Observation Discussion Questions

• What types of observations did my peers make that were similar to mine? How and why are they similar?

Most students observed that students now have Chromebooks in the classroom to use when needed as a tool. Students in rural schools as well as city schools had accessibility to these laptops and had expected responsibilities. 

• What types of observations did my peers make that were different to mine?  How and why are they different?

Other peers noticed a difference in the way other teachers respects the art teachers. In some instances the art teachers they were observing said one way to get around is is to just avoid the teachers lounge. I know this is something that happens in some school districts but the one I attend for high school and have been observing at is the exact opposite. The art teachers are responsible for bringing the community and school district 

• Did you find the discussion with your peers of your observation experience helpful to you as a future art educator?

The discusion brought to light different teaching problems from school to school that I wasn't aware of  

• In your next observation hours to complete (for this class or others), will you view things differently? If no, why? If yes, why?

I think I will observe the same in the future but I will be more prepared for different scenarios.

Who is my audience?
 Students and Parents

What is my message?
I would like to create a newsletter as if I was welcoming myself to the students and parents, informing them on my education, previous work and classroom expectations.


Part Two:
1. Command D to drop in images, Paragraph styles can be used to easily format everything together to match from page to page.
2. The space inside letters can also be filled, you can also jump over the whole letter or wrap text around and don one side.
3. Use fill frame proportional to fit an image on a page easily without distorting the image and center it right away.
4. Properties & Pages panel is where you will find a lot of information on the pages and can edit and navigate through.

1. For each video and article list/discuss the key concepts you learned.

-our brain are capable of recognizing familiar things in art even though its on a fla surface and may not be 100% realistic.

-We search to find human faces in work

-Using luminance in a painting creates a different illusion for the viewer

-In the article it discussed how we recognize things in art that make it pleasing for us

2. What do you think about Changeux and Ramachandran scientific view of aesthetics and art? What was the most interesting fact you discovered from each speakers lecture? 

I thought it was important that the speaker talked about why we view art and the reason it is important tp people to view art. It is interesting to know overtime the pleasing nature in viewing all types of art.

3. What is your opinion of the films and article? 

I enjoyed this article because it gave new information about art and HOW we view it which is a different point that not many art teachers explain.

4. How do the theories discussed here relate to "Visual Culture"?

One thing that is discussed in the article is hoe outlines of objects are very relatable  to us and we can identify them easily but there are no blsck lines around everything in our life. This relates to visual culture because whoever started the first sketch or line drawing revolutionized the way we see an comprehend.

Adobe InDesign Post

1. This program can be easily used from mobile device to desktop to create an easier platform to work from

2. If you look in the document dialog box, you'll find free templates to start with.

3. Esc. button deselects can manually impact the size of the image if we know an exact size we need.

4. "paste without formatting" is how you paste the text changing the style to match the surrounding text.

5. You can import other character styles from other documents.

After this project I feel as though it is more successful than my typography project but still not my favorite. I used tools like the watercolor brush tool and other brushes to create my dress and the background. The curvature tool is what we used to create the vectors to fill with the color we wanted along with other tools such as the eye dropper, and multiple brushes, I did not have an inspiration as I was too ready to get started I saw them after.

Lecture Questions

3 most important facts:

1. Visual culture is apart of our everyday life and can help create a voice when words do not suffice.
2. Visual culture allows us to see how things were made in the past and in the present, allows us to see the shifts.
3. The United States is a country on edge because after the early 2000’s because of the shift seen in visual culture because of what the country had just gone through.

Discuss the role of an art educator in regards to visual culture

Art educators are here to help children be able to see differently which can be reenforced with stong examples of visual culture. To help children be able to breakdown what they are viewing.

What do you think can you take away from this lecture and apply in your future classroom as an art educator?

For this lecture, I took away the importance of helping children, while in this younger state, view images and have an opinion on them, to show them the right images to help them learn form the past and view what is going on in the present with contemporary art as well.
