vector image

After this project I feel as though it is more successful than my typography project but still not my favorite. I used tools like the watercolor brush tool and other brushes to create my dress and the background. The curvature tool is what we used to create the vectors to fill with the color we wanted along with other tools such as the eye dropper, and multiple brushes, I did not have an inspiration as I was too ready to get started I saw them after.

Lecture Questions

3 most important facts:

  1. Visual culture is apart of our everyday life and can help create a voice when words do not suffice.
  2. Visual culture allows us to see how things were made in the past and in the present, allows us to see the shifts.
  3. The United States is a country on edge because after the early 2000’s because of the shift seen in visual culture because of what the country had just gone through.

Discuss the role of an art educator in regards to visual culture

Art educators are here to help children be able to see differently which can be reenforced with stong examples of visual culture. To help children be able to breakdown what they are viewing.

What do you think can you take away from this lecture and apply in your future classroom as an art educator?

For this lecture, I took away the importance of helping children, while in this younger state, view images and have an opinion on them, to show them the right images to help them learn form the past and view what is going on in the present with contemporary art as well.

Digital Imagery Blog

1. How do digital images play a role in your day-to-day life?
We see digital images during classes, on our phones, on our computer screens, maybe even on a billboard during our daily commutes. We can classify them as a from of entertainment or possibly how you view the news.

2. In your personal life?
Today we capture images on our phones and store these personal memories as digital images because today it is the most efficient way to store your photos. We also use digital images to possibly send to loved ones and  friends or they can be used to catch our interest as an advertisement.

3. In the way you experience your world?
We couldn't possibly see everything going on in the world (for instance the recent fires in the Amazon), but digital images can be shared in an instant and now I am able to see the fires happening all the way over in the Amazon without being there, same goes with political news, you can see it and understand it without having to be there.
4. What are your thoughts on ethics and aesthetics as it relates to photojournalism and digital imagery manipulation?
I believe that today people have a strong tendency to feel like they have to always edit a picture whether it be a personal one or something for the next newspaper cover. In my opinion you shouldn't have to manipulate your photo in order to feel comfortable putting that image out into the world. On the other side I do agree that in some cases that is half the art of the photo, to change it up, manipulate it to maybe add some more light or what have you.
5. What are your thoughts on these example of these manipulated mages ?
I think some photos honestly made a bigger impact visually than others but some were photos that could have been real and found myself questioning if there were or not.
6. Out of all the examples, which one do you believe has the most impact? Why?
I believe the Hilary Clinton photo was the most impacting because I feel like if you are taking that information away from a photo then advertising it, it can change a lot of peoples views in the world. Seeing her in the image versus not could really be enough to sway a vote or opinion
